Homemade Face mask "recipe"?

I used a store bought face mask on Wednesday, while I was having a shower, it was Montage Jeunesse Anti-stress Chocolate Masque.

It felt so nice, most of the other ones I've used dried quickly and got hard before rinsing off. I have used this brand before, it comes in a one use pouch, they were on sale so I bought one of each, I think I've used 6-7 different ones before this one and I have never had a reaction. Yesterday my face turned red and I broke out really bad, I've tried washing my face several times and nothing seams to help with the redness or breakouts.

I was wondering if I could make a face mask with stuff I already have, I was thinking about making one out of vegetable puree or something similar. Which veggies/fruit would work the best for redness or breakouts?

Thanks|||I've heard the cucumber facial mask is effective. You blend a cucumber (with skin/peel ON as this is the vital part because antioxidants making the green pigment are concentrated here), add a few drops of lemon, and maybe add some raw oatmeal or yoghurt to thicken it. Then leave it on etc.|||Yogurt is actually really good for redness and breakouts. It sounds crazy, but it works. It might dry up, but the results are good. Just put a coat of yogurt on your face. Lay down so it doesnt slide off, then just lay there for a while.|||Egg White Mask

This is simple and quite frugal. There have been many instances of people reporting excellent results from trying it.

What is it? Egg white. Simple egg white.

All you need to do is separate the yolk from the egg whites. Then whip the egg whites until it is nice and frothy. Apply it to your clean face (using clean hands). Leave on for approximately 20 minutes and wash off with warm water.

The result? Tightening of the skin, clearing of red spots.

Possible side effects? If you鈥檙e allergic to eggs, of course, avoid this one.

Egg Yolk Mask

Egg Yolks contain Vitamin A which is good for scarring. To attempt this method of acne treatment, whip up an egg yolk, apply it to your skin for 20 minutes. Wash off.

There is some discussion as to whether or not you can catch salmonella from putting egg yolk on your skin. Do a little research before trying this one.

Acne Tonic with Basil

2 to 3 teaspoons dried basil leaves

1 C. boiling water

Steep basil leaves in water for 10 to 20 minutes. Cool, then apply to face with a white cotton ball.

Blackhead Remover Mask

1/2 cup fuller's earth

1 tsp. tincture of benzoin

distilled witch hazel

Combine all ingredients and stir thoroughly. Apply the mask to your skin. Let mask dry and harden - about 30-40 minutes. Soak a small hand towel in warm water and lay it across your face.

When the mask starts to soften up, gently rub it with the towel in a circular motion. Rinse with plenty of warm water.

Sea Salt or Table Salt Mask

Swim in the ocean (or buy sea salt and make a mask). Or just gently wash with salt %26amp; water mixed.

Oatmeal Mask

Another kitchen remedy. Blend some oatmeal with water and gently spread it onto your skin. Leave it until it dries (10-15 minutes). This mask is gentle and safe.|||2 tbsp. plain vanilla yogurt and 2 tsp. honey will help to soothe your skin. The yogurt will help to restore moisture to your skin while soothing and cooling it to make it look and feel fresh and healthy, and the honey will calm the redness in your zits, moisturize your skin, and it's a natural antibacterial to kill the bacteria in your pimples.

Also, you can give yourself a 3-step facial using just one egg! A good step for acne is to use dermabrasion, so all you'll need is a raw egg. Crack the egg open and separate the white from the yolk in two separate bowls. Put them in the fridge so they won't go bad.

Next, take the skin from the eggshell (it looks almost like wax paper, it's on the inside of the eggshell and you should be able to get pieces of it that are loose around the cracked edges of the shell) and peel off several strips about the size of your largest zits. This will be very frustrating, so you may want to decide to have an omelette later just so you can crack open other eggs to get the skin, haha.

Put the skin of the egg over your zits, or at least the worst ones. Smooth them over your zits (not your whole face, just your zits) and then just leave the skin for 15 minutes. Then, after 15 minutes, peel off the egg skin from your face.

Next, whip up the egg whites until there's a lot of foam. If you have a foundation brush, you can use this to apply the whites, as it will make it a lot easier, but if not you can just use your fingers (warning: that WILL be very messy). Dip your fingers/brush into the foam and spread it out across your face evenly. Wait about 5-10 minutes, you'll know it's dry when it's very tight and you cannot move any part of your face that had the eggwhites on it. Rinse it off.

Next, prick open the egg yolk with a fork. Again, using your fingers or a foundation brush, spread it out across your face. Focus mainly on the driest parts of your skin, as well as the zits that you used the egg skin on. Again, leave it on until it's completely dry, then rinse it off. Moisturize your face VERY well because the dermabrasion can dry out your zits to the point where they're red simply because they're dry and irritated.

The egg skin takes the redness out of your zits, and you should notice within two or three hours that your zits are much less red and much smaller. The eggwhites tighten your face and are a great temporary facelift as they improve the skin's elasticity, and the egg yolks are a great moisturizer as they give your skin the protein and nutrients it needs to restore itself.

If you're allergic to eggs, though, don't use this mask. :)

Hope I helped!
