Just Moved to Pretoria, South Africa from Canada. Looking for a Safe Area to Live.?

My boyfriend and I just moved to Pretoria and will be staying for one year. We are looking for a place to live and are wondering which areas are safest? We looked at a duplex in La Montagne that we liked - is this area relatively safe or should we look elsewhere? We are also considering Waterkloof, Lynnwood and Faerie Glen. We would prefer to stay to the East of the N1 as it will be quicker for my boyfriend to get to work from there.|||Actually all 3 Waterkloof, Lynnwood and Faerie Glen are ok. I live in the area, so I know a bit about them.

Waterkloof is very upmarket, popular with expats and business people. However you need good security if you stay in the stand alone kind of house. A complex in Waterkloof would be great.

Lynwood is great if bf works in the city. Its so close to Pretoria city and has easy access to Joburg too. Its also popular with big family homes. Well established suburb but really more for families. If you are looking for a very quiet lifestyle, Lynwood is your bet.

Faerie Glen is where the young couples usually stay. There is a lot of activity. Ease to get to DVD hiring places, pizza shops, etc. You will probably like Faerie Glen. Because it is relatively popular with young singles and couples, it has a lot of smaller homes. And traffic can be a problem for your bf.

If I were to make a choice and money was not a problem, I would go live in a security complex in Waterkloof.

Best of luck.|||Lynnwood, is a decent suburb.|||Waterkloof and Menlyn is pretty expensive areas, Sunnyside is a crime mecca so you should avoid it if possible, I live in Wonderboom south, the surrounding areas and Waverley and Villieria is pretty safe .... but you are never really safe anywhere|||Pretoria is the worst part os South Africa!~

Move to cape town where the fun is
